I’ve been in love with the beautiful idea of “being in love” since the age of fourteen. At that age I sat in church and saw the memorable love story of Ruth and Boaz dramatized. I hastened to the Bible for more and was emotionally transported into: the dramatic love ring of Jacob and Rachel, the complicated love story of Hosea and Gomer, the lustful wonder of David and Bathsheba, the unlawful passion play between Shechem and Dinah, the wild desires of Solomon, the command of Abraham’s love for Sarah, and the misplaced love of Samson and Delilah. Trust me, I could go on and on. I knew from back then that I wanted to write love stories.

 

Some of the stories I just mentioned involved deep, passionate love, wanton lust and eternal soul ties. Every one of them came with tribulations. Talk about blended families, lust, greed, lies, lack of faith, deception, infidelity and even murder. The list is endless, the drama palpable but the message is clear, once you find love, sooner or later issues are going to arise.  It doesn’t matter how “holy” you are, the characters above prove that. I learned from reading those love stories that once God is in it, you’re going to win it. But if God says no, then you must let love go!

 

Though I’m a fiction writer, the characters I write about are realistic. My stories reveal the complex sides of human nature when love apprehends the heart. You’ll see that if true love resides in the home heartbreak will come knocking uninvited. Let forgiveness silence the sound. Conflicts will arise testing the potency of your love. When they do don’t walk away because you’re hurt. Stay because you forgive.
